ABSTRACT
Hemoglobin is a protein-pigment complex containing iron. Its complex had red color and bounded to erythrocytes. Highlands have an influence on hemoglobin levels in an individual. Living at highlands could lead hypoxia because of partial pressure of oxygen was weaken and the body would had happened acclimation process. The aim of this study was to determine the differences between hemoglobin levels in army soldiers working in the lowlands and highlands. Hemoglobin levels was examined by Impedance method with 56 samples divided into 2 groups ie 28 samples of Army working in the highlands and 28 samples of Army working in the lowlands. Hemoglobin levels in highlands was testing in RSIA-HAJI laboratory of Batu City and testing of lowlands of army hemoglobin levels at Hiperkes K3 Laboratory. Based on the result of this research showed that hemoglobin levels of army working in the highlands was about 17,204 ± 0,9179 mg / dl, but hemoglobin levels of army working in the lowland was about 13,532 ± 1,0842 mg / dl. Therefore, based on the results of the Independent t-test showed that had significant differencess between hemoglobin army working in the highlands and lowlands because p value = 0.000.
